Helga Hufflepuff and the Badger
The saddest part of the winter season for the Hufflepuff house is the lack of warming sunshine and the fading of seasonal colors. This house, deeply connected to nature, highly values the cultivation of plants for necessary potions and benefits from the earth. It selects students who are interested in such values and want to develop themselves in this field.
Let’s talk about Helga Hufflepuff, one of the founders of the house… Helga was born in a small farm, a likable and quite robust witch. According to the stories passed down from the past, she started working on the farm from a young age. Unfortunately, the farm didn’t generate enough income for her family. No matter what she did, Helga couldn’t find a solution for the farm’s situation, and it made her very sad. She quickly began searching for a solution and eventually started preparing healing potions from the plants she grew.
With the success of her concoctions made from medicinal herbs, the spark of hope within her rekindled. As the dark clouds gradually dispersed from her family and the farm, she started seeking ways to develop this talent. Since she believed that her talent couldn’t flourish on a small farm, Helga began embarking on short journeys.
While passing through rugged roads, an old villager appeared before her, holding a wounded and very sick badger. Eager to help the desperate villager, Helga took the badger into her arms and brought it to her farm. She was anxious to see if her magical concoctions would work. To her great joy, a miracle happened, and the badger healed thanks to the potions and elixirs she prepared.
Helga set out on the roads once again, carrying the healed badger with her. Finally, she reached the villager’s house with the badger in her arms. The villager, filled with excitement upon seeing the badger’s recovery, took it into their arms and thanked Helga with heartfelt gratitude. Thinking that the gratitude was not enough, the villager joyfully shared with the entire village how Helga healed the badger with her magical herbs.
This is how Helga’s intense interest in badgers began. Devoting most of her time to mixtures and potions made from plants, Hufflepuff saved her farm and realized the healing power of her concoctions. To maintain the joy she felt, she placed a badger as the symbol of the house and continued to experience that sense of happiness throughout her life.
