DO YOU KNOW THE MEANING OF THE ROBE YOU CHOOSE?
One of the most important objects that make Harry Potter characters feel at home is the robe. The robes reflect the colors of Hogwarts’ four great houses – Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff – and the characteristics associated with those colors. The robes worn by witches and wizards not only represent their houses but also represent their character traits. Let’s see what meanings the robe you choose carries based on its color and symbol…
THE ALLURING DARKNESS OF SLYTHERIN
The colors that represent the unique power of the Slytherin house, founded by Salazar Slytherin, are green and silver. The Slytherin house and its represented characteristics have always caused witches and wizards to approach with apprehension. Even though Harry Potter was originally supposed to be sorted into Slytherin, the Sorting Hat was convinced by Harry’s thoughts to place him in Gryffindor. While the qualities of ambition, leadership, and resourcefulness that Slytherin represents may scare Harry to some extent, he is inwardly aware of possessing these traits. How do you think the plot would change if Harry had been sorted into Slytherin? The striking nature of the serpent symbol placed upon the green and silver colors is due to Salazar Slytherin being a Parselmouth. It is intriguing that the greatest talent of speaking to snakes is present in a Gryffindor student. Another characteristic of the Slytherin house is that almost all of its students are pure-bloods.
DRACO DIDN’T BECOME LIKE HIS FATHER
The preference for dark magic and the selection of pure-blood witches and wizards actually come from their families. The greatest example of this is, of course, Draco Malfoy. With his charismatic speeches and intimidating demeanor inherited from his family, Malfoy draws attention, but he suggests that he is the opposite of what he tries to convince himself of being – the true enemy. Draco, who can fully carry the meaning of the robe he wears as he grows up, has gained great affection because he did not inherit his father’s mercilessness.
THE TASK OF THIS HOUSE IS TO BE ENCHANTED ONLY BY DARKNESS
In their common rooms reminiscent of dungeons, the dominance of black, silver, and green colors creates a frightening yet noble image, just like their robes. Speaking of fear, one must not forget that Tom Riddle, also known as Lord Voldemort, who is Harry’s ultimate enemy, came from the Slytherin house.
